With his upcoming album Can’t Paint Over My Heart, Danny steps into a timeless sound that blends the warmth and rawness of old rock-and-roll recordings with the immediacy of modern songwriting. At its center is the belief that certain people and experiences cannot be covered up. Time may change the surface, but the people who shape us continue to show through.
That idea takes shape on the album's pilot track “Made It Without,” a spirited song born at five in the morning after a long day in a recording studio. Hearing an old voice message from someone he once knew inspired Reidy to build the song around its honest confession: “almost made it without crying.” The result sets that intimate moment of emotion against the a full-throttle rock-n-roll song.
His debut single “Overshined” confronts self-comparison and the heavier emotions that come with feeling eclipsed by people around you. Adapted from only the second song Reidy ever wrote, the track was never initially intended for the album. After an unsuccessful attempt at recording a cover song, Danny's father suggested that the band try tracking "Overshined" instead. The song immediately found its place within the record and went on to earn more than 30,000 streams during its first two months of release.
Raised in Santa Rosa, California, Danny began playing piano at six years old before taking up drums and guitar at fifteen, when he also started writing his first songs. His earliest musical education came through old rock records played by his father. Discovering alternative rock and grunge in high school widened that foundation, shaping his style of ’70s rock and roll, ’90s distortion, and modern melodic instinct.
At seventeen, Reidy co-produced his debut album alongside Grammy-winning producer Ray Kennedy. He has since continued developing his live identity through performances around Nashville and beyond. His growing relationship with legendary songwriter Lucinda Williams has led to both a duet on with Williams on his record, and performances opening for her, placing Danny’s voice alongside one of the most celebrated songwriters in American music.
